Why WP Engine Is The Best Managed WordPress Hosting?

This is why I easily rate WP Engine the best WordPress host I’ve ever used.

One of the rarest web hosting companies as Apple says “it just works“. Who knows how many websites went through my hand that went to nearly every hosting company you heard for development and with that experience, this is my honest review of WP Engine.

WP Engine Cons

Let’s get straight to the point, WP Engine cost more, compared to other web hostings but that price for drama-free life is well worth, I highly recommend WP Engine to everyone that can afford $35 monthly for one website (adding more domains will add $20 to the price).

Varnish cache, this is not cons but annoying thing if you have an experience like I. That’s server-sided WP Engine cache and in order to be auto-purged you need to wait for 10 minutes (not always working from my experience) or you need to manually purge the cache from WP Engine portal inside WordPress admin. I had an experience where we were working on a sports news website and if you don’t purge the cache no one can see the new posts. Luckily we used WP Rocket, he has the option to purge WP Engine varnish cache on post publish or update you just need to enable varnish cache from the option. I was chatting with the WP Engine guys and suggest they add an on-off switch for purging the cache on post publish or update and they said that they will present the idea to their superiors for making this possible in the further server-side updates.

Another cons is that you can’t but domain name straight from WP Engine.

The last con is that WP Engine is blocking some plugins. Complete list of disallowed plugins.

WP Engine Pros

WordPress admin is using a lot of hosting resources and if you login with 2-3 or more accounts you can test if the hosting is good, WP Engine is much faster compared to other hosting companies and you will see that in load times. From my experience, once we had 18 websites working on WP Engine with at least 10 developers, SEO group and Social Media group (sometimes we had 6 users logged in at the same time on one website) and we never got any slow down or experience hosting hiccups it was working flawlessly. Add here the best support ever and you have the best-managed WordPress hosting.

The whole system is so well made and organized that you don’t need to be a “tech” guy to use it. Dev, production, stage is just so good, with one your production or stage or live is ready.

CDN included in price. All you need to do is go to WP Engine portal from WordPress admin and turn CDN on,  it’s that easy. CDN will speed up your website tremendous which is good for users and SEO too as it’s a Google ranking factor.
